New York

At the end of March 2013, Cal and I made a long weekend trip to NYC for Todd's wedding.

Top 5 favorite activities:
* Highline
* Cal's first trip to Times Square (normally Times Square would not make my list of favorites, but it was so fun to see Cal react to NYC)
* Hanging out in Brooklyn with old friends
* Brooklyn Bridge on a gorgeous Saturday morning
* Todd's awesome wedding on Long Island

Top 5 favorite food moments:
* My favorite panang ever at Pam Real Thai in Hell's Kitchen
* Chocolate malt at the Shake Shack
* Hazlenut bear hug rice pudding at Rice to Riches (my standby favorite)
* Paneer saag at Todd's wedding.  And pb&j cupcakes during the ceremony
* Blueberry pancakes with cinnamon syrup at Clinton Street Baking Company

We stayed at two different hotels to get the best prices--the Barclay Intercontinental (highly, highly recommend--it's small, but old school classy, and its location can't be beat), and the Courtyard Marriott at 5th Avenue (I don't recommend that one so much).

I wish I had time to show Cal the Met, MOMA, Central Park, and some of the other quintessential New York experiences.  It was bizarrely crowded everywhere we went (a confluence of Passover, Spring Break, and Easter), but we had fun just wandering New York's neighborhoods for a few days.

Scenes from a bridge

Pancakes worth the 20 minute subway ride (and thankfully we got there crazy early, so we only had to wait 15 minutes)

Cal taking a nap at the Highline. This was my first time in New York since its completion, and I just loved it. Such a great idea for New Yorkers who want a beautiful place to read a book.

I was so happy that Cal loved my favorite rice pudding. Maybe he'll get on board with ordering exorbitantly priced shipments of it.

Goodbye New York!!
